Inviting your team and setting up an organization
How to invite users to your SiteDetour organization, assign permission levels, and structure resource access.
Overview
Every SiteDetour account is provisioned with an Organization. You can invite an unlimited number of users into an organization, assign each a permission level, and optionally group them into teams for resource-level isolation.
Permission levels
SiteDetour uses a Role-Based Access Control model. There are four roles:
- Owner — full access plus billing and subscription management. Exactly one per organization; assigned at signup. Can be transferred via support.
- Administrator — full access to all resources and user management, but cannot change the subscription.
- View/Edit — create and edit redirects, Smart Links, audiences, and landing pages, but cannot manage users.
- Read Only — read access to resources and analytics. No mutations.
Each user's permission level applies uniformly across the organization, regardless of team membership (see below).
Inviting a user
Navigate to Organization and click Invite New Member. Provide:
- Name
- Email address — must be verified before the user can sign in.
- Access Level — one of the four roles above.
The invite triggers a verification email. After the user clicks the link and sets a password, they can sign in. Until the email is verified, the Organization page shows an Email not confirmed warning next to their name.
Using teams for resource isolation
Teams subdivide an organization's users and resources. A user can belong to multiple teams; a resource belongs to exactly one team.
Use teams when different departments or campaigns should not see each other's resources — for example, Marketing shouldn't accidentally edit Engineering's redirects. Create a team under Teams, add the relevant users, and assign resources to that team on creation.
Administrators and Owners can view resources across all teams; View/Edit and Read Only users can only see resources in teams they belong to.
Teams are available on Business and Enterprise plans. See Teams Support for details.
SSO and user provisioning
If your organization uses SSO, every user that needs to sign in must still be added to the SiteDetour Organization page first. SiteDetour does not auto-provision accounts from the IdP. Once added, users authenticate by visiting sitedetour.com/login/sso and entering their email.
Removing a user
Open the Organization page and click the delete icon next to the user's row. Their API tokens are immediately revoked. Any resources they created remain in the organization.
